Clients

Clients are the businesses already operating in your target area. It is vital that you research businesses within your area thoroughly. The following questions have to be answered:

  • What industry sector do they work in? (e.g. catering, retail)
  • Do they use recruitment agencies at the moment?
  • Who are the recruitment agencies that work for them?
  • What type of workers do they look for?

In order to get answers to these questions you could do it in a number of ways.

A good place to start is using your local directory and phoning up businesses and asking them. However, more often than not businesses are far too busy to answer to people that they do not even know.

Therefore a better way would be to check on their websites or even face to face! That means the potential client can not put the phone down on you or ignore you!

Then by ascertaining the answers to these questions you can quickly determine what businesses you can target and what businesses probably will not be worth your while.

For example, if you find that a business only deals with one recruitment agency and has been for the past 15 years then it is unlikely that they will work with any other agency.

However, if you find out that a local company always uses a variety of recruitment agencies then you have the opportunity to target that company.

Also by finding out more information on the different types of businesses within your target area you can start dividing the businesses up into their industry sector and store these details.

This will make it easier when it comes to targeting a set number of businesses within a particular industry sector.
