As well as researching the local businesses it is also crucial to research the potential workers living in your target area. Therefore, you must answer the following questions:
- What type of people are living within your target area/location? (eg. students, graduates, elderly, retired, temp workers, unemployed, employed)
- Rank these types of people in terms of how many there are? (eg. students =150, unemployed = 100)
- Are they looking for a job?
- What type of job are you looking for (ie what industry)?
- Where do they find out about jobs?
- What do look for in a job?
- Have you ever used a recruitment agency before? why? why not?
- What was the name of the recruitment agency that you used?
In order to answer the questions on how many people are living within the area and what they do it would be beneficial to use local council or government statistics on the Internet.
In order to answer where they find jobs and other personal questions you must carry this out through your own primary research. (e.g Questions being asked on the high street)
By doing so you can establish the type of people that are looking for jobs. For instance if the target area is saturated with students because of the local University then you will be able to advertise your recruitment agency through flyers and posters within the University grounds.
This means that students can send in their CVs to your recruitment agency and you can build a database of potential candidates for jobs.

In regard to Question 9 of your quiz, agencies don't need a licence to operate in the UK. Agencies must comply with the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and regulations but there is no requirement to be licensed. The EAA73 still refers to licensing but this was abolished in 1995. However, Nursing and Care agencies must be licensed by the National Care Standards Commission. In addition, labour providers in the agricultural, horticulture, shellfish gathering and food processing sectors are subject to licensing by the Gangmasters Licensing Authority. The Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) opened for business in April 2006, and it will be a criminal offence to operate as a gangmaster without a licence from 1 October 2006 and to use an unlicensed gangmaster from 1 December 2006.
